I had a hard time rating this game in stars, because I have somewhat conflicting views on it. But at this point, I've spent all night and part of the morning doing nothing but playing it, am level 23, have 100% on one capsule machine, developed an addiction problem, and decided to let you all know what you're getting into should you download this eldritch brain parasite from the dark side of Japan. Gameplay- You turn a wheel and get a capsule. That's it. If you think that sounds boring, I dare you to turn the wheel a few times and walk away like what I assume people who are still sane would think they could do. There are several capsule machines, my personal favorites being the one where you smash three toys together into a long one and the one where the toys end up making a sequence of a monster turning into other monsters. Maybe because the toys connecting further fuels my intense need to collect all of the toys out of a machine. Jim sterling was right to warn us about loot boxes, because even though this is free, I've realized that I should never be allowed with 500 feet of a casino, or given a credit card for games that do have paid loot boxes. **Tips** The entire game is in Japanese, and speaking none myself, I've had to work out the nuances by experience. If you get 10 of a toy, you can look at it as a concept art sketch. I know this because I own about 19 of 10 different toys and God help me I'm still going. I've been trying to work out the odds of getting rarer toys, and think if you get 10 of a toy it will stop showing up unless you press "ok" instead of "cancel" when you get a square in a capsule that triggers Japanese text. Honestly that's s working theory based mostly on a deranged sense of hope, but it can't hurt to try. Heck, using black magic on your phone might work so try that too. Art- if you're like me, the main draw into this labyrinth of madness is the art. It's very bizarre, on the creepy side, and probably is enchanted to keep me playing until I die. I love the art. It's great. As a game focused on collecting more of it by turning an endless wheel that feels more and more like a metaphor for emptiness of existence, the art needs to be strong, and it delivers. The concept art is a nice touch, even though with 100% of the toys in one machine, I feel I must go on to get all the concept art, even if my index finger dies in the process. Conclusion- From a purely gameplay standpoint, thus game loses points for being limited to turning a wheel over and over until you die, but I can't deny that the art is excellent and that I'm drawn to continue like a moth to its flaming demise. It's a free game besides the cost of your soul and your sanity, and there are no advertisements besides one capsule machine being based on one of the developers other games. I can't in good conscience give this game 5 or 4 stars due to the lack of features and the fact that I'm really playing not so much out of enjoyment anymore, but out of my base human instinct to acquire what's just out of reach and my worsening gambling addiction. I wasnt to give it a higher rating, but knowing the best case scenario now that I'm in its clutches is finally collecting every toy and all the sketch art only to be left empty and forever seeking something to fill the void does sour the glowing review my madness would like me to make. However, for the initial rush that will forever leave me seeking a taste of that sweet euporia again, and the art that is very good, especially to accompany my slow descent to the deepest realms of madness, Japanese Crazy Capsule Toy deserves a solid 3 stars.
